I did two years as a pre-selector for British short films for the London Short Film Festival, I also was a jury member for the Lo-Budget film award in both 2018 & 2019.
For the 2019 festival I also helped put together two film programmes, inspired by millenialness.
IRL

I curated this programme to be a collection of British shorts about young-ish people dealing with all the things we have to deal with at the moment. I was seemingly so good at curating, that I fooled everyone into thinking I was a ‘young person’ (in the official funding definition a.k.a an under-25!). But an actual officially young person, Dan Guthrie, did give the programme his seal of approval:
“When I first got the opportunity to watch this programme – in bed, a bit hungover, craving a fry up – I was blown away by just how great all the films were. It felt like going down the rabbit hole of “up next” on Youtube as the whole thing just seemed to flow seamlessly. All the shorts in it are reflective of the here and now without being too “hello fellow kids” about it, and they tackle important subjects like love, identity and community that are vital to defining what it means to be a young person right now.” – Dan Guthrie, Our Young Programmer’s LSFF Picks
This programme was then taken on tour around UK cinemas, with Dan Guthrie introducing it. It went to Derby Quad, Tyneside Cinema, Queens Film Theatre Belfast & Showroom Sheffield.
